Alright, I piced up this 92 bonne se 3800 about a month ago for cheap so i figured i would have to do some work to it...i was not let down there...when i first got it it would start but kind of rough then smooth out and would run and drive great...now for the issues

when it got colder (and was stil starting) i would have to wait for it to warm up or rev the engine a few times to get it to kick into gear, other wise you would shift into gear and nothing would happen.

Now the thing is not starting, after cranking it once in a while it will hiss a puff of something out of the ends of a rubber connector ontop of the throttle bode. and the area around this is wet with what smells like gas. what would this be? it will crank over but not catch. and it just happened. it was starting then then next day this.

any and all help will be greatly appreciated this car is getting to me haha:runaround:

Whats the best way to do that in a car? ive done it on a fourwheeler by taking out the 2 plugs and crankin it over, would i just take out one? or what?

Stick a screw driver in the plug wire, hold it 1/4" from ground, crank it over, should be a sharp blue spark.

UPDATE.
I replaced the coil packs and it fires right up instantly but once it idles down it starts getting a chuggin , very similar to the sound an old v8 muscle car will make. is this the timing?

Be interested to know how you "adjusted" the timing....

As for the tranny, sounds like the seals are "hardened".....maybe a transmission service + some Lucas tranny treatment might help.....

Was wondering the same thing.... How do you adjust the timing on a DIS system?

We all know this can't be done.

u might want to check the MAF sensor if it aint clean or isnt doing a proper self clean it can screw with ur shifting and how well the car runs. it will make u think u have a fuel/ignition problem and a trans prob at the same time
