When you turn the blinkers on the left blinker works but when you click the right blinker it does not work but still clicks regulary. Also the right blinker on dash is stuck on and all you see is a green right hand no matter if you have the right blinker on or not. Also the head lights/ high beams do not click on when you click it. Do you have any idea what is wrong? Is the whole part messed up on the stearing column or no? Sorry for spelliing i just got off work and need to go to sleep. Thank you for reading.

does it used to click when you went lo/high beam? on the 2002 it do not.

As for the flasher, you probably have an issue with the switch itself... the grand am are known to have issues with the multi switch....

You could try to clean it up with some contact cleaner, I fixed mine with some electrosolve contact cleaner zero residue.

Or you could replace the whole assembly.

It does click when I try the high beams. From what i thought and read it is the whole assembly that is screwed up. Where is the multi switch contacts to clean? I am confused on that part.

open the steering column, take out the assembly, move the flasher arm, you will see on the back of it where it make contact.... using the tube of the cleaner, spray it from the inside via an hole somewhere...

this is how I cleaned mine...

I need a new assembly. The inside copper contact points are very green toned and the contact cleanner did nothing to help it.Guess its to far gone. I am going to junk yard tomorrow to get a salvaged one. Do you have to have a cruise contol switch on it, when it did have one on it? Also why is something like that light switch assembly around 140$ new? thats outragous price for something that is for a 95 grand am...

Mine don't have cruise control, and yeah, the price is annoying as hell... Hence why I cleaned mine. I think in my case it was metal particle that was stuck in the grease due to the friction and what not.

There is several product to fix the oxydation, sadly, none really work, specially when the part is greasey. Most degreaser need you to scrub the part too to get it 100% clean. Maybe you could see if you can open it up so you can clean the oxyde off, using a very fine sand paper (#1000?), but I think it's all sealed so can't be opened.

BTW, I read that the dealer charge 450$ for it :D locally I could get it for 275$... online I've seen them for 140$ or so... so yeah, many place are theif, specially the stealership :D

Thats what I did, opened it up to bare metal. I will try to clean it with some sand paper but wont think it will do anything. I think i dropped a spring but can get a new spring lol. That is an outragous amount, i rather get a new car instead spending 450 on something that is only worth 1500 on. The junk yard is charging about 30$ for a salvaged one. Oh the plastic pieces in the inside are very worn down.

and be careful when you re-install it to depress the spring-loaded horn contact as in:

Hope this helps.

Haha, yea i was wondering if it was that wire. I ened up getting a assembly from the junk yard, and its still a little hard to get blinkers to work. but it works
