Hi,

I am having a problem with a fuel line connector on 94 Grand Am, 3.1 V6. It is on the intake fuel line. I am trying to replace the fuel line. The connector on one end is an easy quick connect. The other end connected to the engine side has a silver connector that I cannot budge. I don't see any set screw and it could be a different kind of quick connect. But I don't know and I cannot put a lot of pressure on it. Anyone know how to remove this connector?

If you are reffering to the round silver piece, that does not come apart.
The line disconnect is kinda under the upper intake. Or it could be below the silver part.

...Its been a while since Ive seen a 94. :D

Thanx xero. But the silver part connects right to a piece of pipe going right into the engine. Unless that pipe is part of the fuel line assly. Its driving me nuts cuz it looks so ez to replace if I could just disconnect the the black tubing from the pipe .

It DOES come off, but I'm not sure how. I know this because I got a fuel rail with the lines still attached and that piece had been removed. It's somehow fitted tightly on there.

If you find out, please let us know.

the line is held into the fuel rail by a nut around the line.

this is a 3.1 ?

Yes, itis a 3.1 but there is no nut around this piece. I'm going to try and post a picture if I can.

I think he's talking about where the return line runs down. The metal line connects to another line using a special connector. I'm wondering if this is what a GM fuel disconnect tool is used for.

I'm getting to this a little late, but if it's anything like my Grand Am, there's a tool that Napa Auto Parts sells to disconnect the two quick disconnects on the engine side of the fuel/brake line assembly. The part number for this tool is 3321. It's part of their Napa Service Tools line. I think it cost me $20.00. The back states the following:

Fuel Line Quick Disconnect Tool
Use to release the fuel line locking mechanism on 1989 and newer GM, 1990 and newer Ford, and some 1990 and newer Mazda vehicles. Also fits Chrysler fuel-injected vehicles (except imports). Fits 5/16" and 3/8" fuel lines.

The diameter of the lines is different, so each end of the tool will be needed for both lines.
