Fog Lights

Does anyone know a good (safe) way to keep the fog lights on with the headlights on a 2002 Grand AM SE?

just turn them on?

Yes. I would like to be able to keep them on when I switch from low beams to high beams. Any ideas?

i have heard on other GA sites it can be done.
I personally havnt looked into it, and probly wouldnt do the hack.

If you check into disabling your DRL's you can turn your fogs on & off just with your parking lights on.
Which the other site has the DRL and Fog hack... I think, pm me for more details if interested.

this is a very simple fix, if you only want them on with your high beams on. and you said a safe way which means you don't want them all tied into the same circuit. use a 12 volt relay with one set of normally open contacts, this relay will have four terminals, 2 of them are each side of the coil inside, the other 2 will be the normally open contacts which close when the coil is energized(creating an electromagnet). make sure the relay has proper current rating for the fog light circuit. Run one side of the coil to ground, the other to your high beam circuit, so the coil is energized with high beams on. you'll have to leave you switch on for the fog lamps. just break the fog light circuit somewhere and hook up to the normally open contacts on the coil. This way the only thing you are adding to your high beam circuit is a relay which won't draw much current, and you are using the same existing separate circuit for the fog lamps.

its way easier than that ctwright. I believe just a jumper or two for this model GA.

i'm not even familiar with the wiring of that vehicle, i'm just giving a general example of how to control one circuit with another, may even find that useful in another application

Doesn't the 02' have a fog light switch like the 05'?
