I am attempting to remove the radio from my buick skylark, i have loosened the bolts that hold it to the instrument panel cover, I pulled off the knobs and the other plastic piece that goes underneath them, but there are these things attached to the base of the rods the knobs go on, they have threads on the outside of them, do I need to remove these? and if so how?

I will offer a picture tomorrow so you can see what i mean.

please help.

Needle nose pliers, or a deep socket will work!

thank you, I managed to get the radio out alright.

now for my next problem, anyone know where to buy a wiring harness for a 1976 skylark?

Use the harness, that comes with the new Radio!
Red - 12VDC
Blk - gnd
The other wires are for the Frnt L + R, and Rear L + R speakers.

keep the volume on low when testing speaker wire's, else you will blow the amplifiers finals in radio.
