I have a 1999 express van, 5.7 engine I just installed new multi- port injector ( BDW ).
and replaced the timing chain cover. the van started up right away. I drove it for about 5 miles. I got a few blocks from home it started to run like crap. I pulled over stopped the engine. I tried to restart it barely idled. the engine temp got to230 degrees. I let it cool off . when I tried to start it again all it would do is crank over. I put an in line spark tester on it . I have no spark. what can be the of this now?????? I have in the recent past installed distributor w/cap,rotor , new crank sensor , coil, plugs and wires
the only thing in the chain I haven't replaced is the ( Ignition control module) is there away to test this thing?

Many parts stores have a tester Advance and Auto Zone will test them free.
Why did the temperature go so high make sure this problem is fixed as this will fry a module in the distributor.

Ok I've had the ICM Tested it's ok. I have ohms tested the coil (ok) also tested the cam sensor and the crank sensor. I have 11.75 volts going to the coil on the high side and 6.3 mv on the low side. yet I still have now spark.. the engine turns over. I can smell fuel. what else can it be???? I'm stumped here... could some thing going on with the reluctor ring ?

Pull the distributor cap and watch as some else cranks the engine. Is the rotor turning the pin for the gear may have sheared.
Ohm the wire on top of the distributor it should read approximately 1/2 scale.
A rotor can go bad use an ohm meter and check.
