I have a 82 camaro auto trans, shifter is on floor console my steering column is broken. I took it out of the car, it has a shifter cable going form console to column .the uesd column i bought must have come out of a standed shift trans. It does not have a place for this cable. Will i be able to use it anyway. I can shift the car through the gears now with out any column in it at all. What will my problems be if any ???? Thank you

In the early to mid 80's GM used ALOT of parts accross nearly every model to handle overstock issues. I't's very possible that's why there's a gear cable on your column, unless someone swappedit out before?

the cable was to lock the steering wheel when key is out... the column i bought has a latch next to the key you have to puch down to remove key & it locks the st. wheel. it must be from a manual shift car.. thank you for your help,,,,
