'84 transmission slippage

Back in spring I changed my transmission fluid and filter (old fluid was brown) and had to pop a leaky front seal out, and everything worked fine until I noticed a gradual hesitation in gear shift a few months later and pretty soon I had lost the ability to stay in Overdrive on the highway without it slipping so I had to quit that, and now I have to manipulate the gas pedal to get it to shift correctly even to 2nd gear, but I still avoid the highways.

I don't know if the seal work I did or changing the fluid was relevant to this problem but its the last thing I did with the trans. I changed the fluid to reduce the slamming and hard shift, which got rid of the problem and the seal leak was fixed. the fluid levels seem to be fine and I used correct dextron III fluid.

I'm looking to try and take care of this problem myself if possible, to save money. if not I'd have to wait till spring when my automatic trans classes start when equipment is availible to me. thanks in advance for any input.

If fluid and filter good and fluid level full hot in park.
Check your TV linkage cable to transmission adjustment.
Should be adjusted to a full pull with gas pedal wide open.

What are up shift speeds on normal take off?

If your asking for shift patterns its 10-15mph to 2nd gear 25mph to 3rd and i [think] 50-55mph to hit 4th. hard to remember when i have a bouncing speedo needle. I DO remember taking off the linkage cable so I could roll out the trans to pop the old seal, so when I get the chance I will check it. I assume the pan needs to come off for this adjustment?

It is adjusted at TBI on TV cable bracket.
