Harrison Hot Springs, Canadamudphud 11-05-2001, 03:57 PM I was bored this weekend so I met up with Superjens up in Canada and we did some fishing and 4-wheeling around Harrison Hot Springs. I think we should definitely go back there and do some camping on the shores of Lake Harrison some time. You go and don't tell us! :( mudphud 11-05-2001, 05:40 PM Doh! Sorry, it was totally last minute. I was going stir crazy on Friday afternoon and started chatting with Claus and Jens on Messenger. He said he was going to Harrison the next day so I decided to join him. I actually thought about asking you, but for some reason, I thought you were working this weekend. :( Schludwiller 11-05-2001, 06:53 PM That brush looks familiar. Were you guys on Mt. Woodside heading to the lake (forgot the name of it, but hikers go up the other side). http://www.xterra4x4.com/Trips/stumplake/somemud.jpg Schludwiller 11-05-2001, 06:55 PM This was the first spring after I bought my truck so I still had the steprails on (they came off the next weekend). http://www.xterra4x4.com/Trips/stumplake/rockfall.jpg superjens 11-05-2001, 09:43 PM Schlud, I have no idea where Mt. Woodside is. You're familiar with the trails up here, then? It's kind of annoying how most of the side trails off the main forestry roads don't really go anywhere. When they do, it's zigzag right up the mountains, but don't lead you anywhere. I was amazed in Naches how everything seemed interconnected and planned out. We definitely need some of that up here. Then again, it's only my first season offroad, maybe I just haven't found the treasure trove of trails yet. Rick it would have been great if you came up, sorry we didn't think about it. Like Joe said, very last minute. When the time is right I'd love to plan a weekend trip up here. I'll be joining some other BC 4x4 guys in two weeks (18th I believe) somewhere near Whistler. If you or anybody else is interested in a day trip lemme know. ToeJam 11-05-2001, 10:19 PM I'd like to do the same thing you've done with the lights on the front bumper. Can you snap a close-up of where and how they're mounted and post it for me?? Ideally, I'd like to see one from the side. I'm curious how much they stick out from the front end. What lights do you have on there? Gracias Stu superjens 11-05-2001, 11:46 PM ToeJam, they're Hella 500's. The beam they emit is a pretty good compliment for the headlights, in my limited experience anyways. They were a bargain at $145 CDN (about $90 US I guess?) They're very thin, and don't stick out past the front of the bumper while still leaving enough room behind to prevent any grill rubbing. I just drilled a couple of holes and stuck 'em in. Then the wiring, which is always fun  I don't have a closer pic, but I'll try to borrow the office digicam tomorrow and snap one for you. Schludwiller 11-06-2001, 12:06 AM Mt. Woodside is where the hang gliders take off area is. Nice view. This is the last thing you see before jumping... http://www.xterra4x4.com/Trips/stumplake/harrison.jpg You'll know you're close when you see lots of cars parked around a field with cows as you drive to Harrision. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the trail as we were mostly on a 4ft opening of bush, but it does come out to a small lake. http://www.xterra4x4.com/Trips/stumplake/2_lake.jpg superjens 11-06-2001, 12:48 AM I *think* I know where you are in that photo, but I'm not positive. You're looking towards Harrison River meeting the Fraser, looking West right? If not, I'm lost. Schludwiller 11-06-2001, 12:01 PM Yes. The bridge on the right of the photo is the one you drive over on the way to Harrison Hot Springs. Something like a golf course is there I believe. Schludwiller 11-06-2001, 12:04 PM On the ferry heading to Tahuya ORV. (No driving, just breakfast and BS'ing on the 45 minute ferry ride). http://www.xterra4x4.com/Trips/Tahuya/sunrise.jpg vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
