Black 'foam pieces' coming out of vents.

Recently I noticed black stuff flying out of the vents when the air is on. It looks almost like foam. Does anyone know what this is?

I have this as well. Mine looked almost like a honeycomb-shaped object, but it's black and probably the same as what you're getting.
I took it to a mechanic and he informed me that it's insulation from behind the dash. He said the likely cause is that the dash is coming loose and this insulation is actually used to reduce outside noise. From what my mechanic said, it would cost a lot to fix as he'd have to remove the entire dash and reattach.
I've had it going on for about a year and just deal with it. :smile:
