Alfa Romeo SZ
crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 11:55 AM I can't believe no one has written about this amazing car!! It was penned by the famous designer Zagato (man that guy has drawn some mean looking cars!). It was designed to shock, and that it did! I think it was available on sale in 1990. It's powered by a 3l V6 which develops 210bhp and propels the car to 60 in just under 7 seconds and up to a maximum of 146mph. Despite its bulky looks, the car is agile, its handling superb and entertaining, with communicative steering. The car is prone to oversteer in the wet but roadholding is pretty impressive. The cabin is beautiful and a very pleasant place to be. "car magazine" labelled it "ugly as sin and just as tempting". This car absolutely bewitches me. It's so *ugly* it's beautiful. Does that make any sense?? I didnt think so! If i could have any 3 cars (realistically), it would be one of these, a Lancia Delta Integrale Evolution and a Lancia Hyena. Each one a beast! Not many SZ's were made so they're very rare. Initially there were all in red until limited editions in yellow and black were produced (correct me if im wrong). Damn i love this car! cheers jay crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 12:01 PM :D big butt!!:D crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 12:03 PM check out that stance! crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 12:08 PM straight out of hell... crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 12:09 PM Hardtop and Spider side-by-side... crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 12:13 PM a yellow spider.. crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 12:14 PM last one... enjoy! chocotek 12-03-2001, 01:00 AM the sz is cool, ive always liked it...to bad it never came to the U.S. crayzayjay 12-03-2001, 04:13 AM i've only ever seen one, a yellow cabrio.... i have never seen so many people stare at a car in my life... it got more attention than Ferraris and Diablos do! those are common as muck ;).. when they saw the SZ, they were in a state of shock!! cheers jay chocotek 12-03-2001, 05:05 AM ive never seen one in person, only pictures...maybe someday ill see one in person VW_Redliner 12-15-2001, 05:05 AM I've never seen this car in my life but it's really phatty lookin. Very true. Bet it was owned by a so called collector who had too many other cars to take care of... some of those guys really cheese me off  mcinerneya 10-28-2003, 06:56 AM After 12 years of waiting and saving I have just bought one of these cars and can confirm that they are every bit as special as there press. One of these cars actually has been to the USA for the Italiano Cocourso 1998. Taken by Alfa Romeo direct this is actually the car I now own. See link http://www.concorso.com/ARCHIVES/98inreview.asp crayzayjay 10-29-2003, 08:20 AM Congrats on owning a truly beautiful car. Do you have any more pics? :) mcinerneya 10-29-2003, 11:03 AM More pictures can be seen at :- http://www.vectornut.com/ConcorsoItaliano/1998/ConcorsoItaliano1998_02.html Interesting history originally owned by a main board director of Fiat SPA Italy, whilst he owned the car it was kept in the Fiat Museum in Turin. As FIAT/ALFA do not own an SZ it was used as a demonstration car at shows all over the world. I am still pulling together photographic evidence of its public appearances. The car is still absolutely perfect havin only covered 9,300 miles from new when I collected. Unfortunately I love drining it so much that it now has 11,700 miles not bad as I have only had it 6 weeks. These cars were meant to be enjoyed. :iceslolan crayzayjay 10-30-2003, 06:11 AM It's great to have bought it with such few miles on the clock. It must have been very well taken care of given its history. What colour is the interior? mcinerneya 10-30-2003, 11:11 AM All SZ's, coupe, are the same colour Red, Black roof and Tan leather interior. There was one black one and I know of one that is all red i.e. No black roof. RZ's Spiders were Red, Yellow or Black with one light blue metalic with interiors of black leather. crayzayjay 10-31-2003, 07:24 AM Nice :bigthumb: miggy 05-31-2004, 05:18 AM All SZ's, coupe, are the same colour Red, Black roof and Tan leather interior. I'm new on this forum. Recently got myself an SZ, its a wonderful car indeed. However, I'm having a hard time looking for parts. Where do you buy them? madbusa2002 12-18-2004, 11:21 AM Definitely a different interpretation of cool. The closest I've come to seeing one is the red Matchbox sitting with all of the other cars I probably won't ever have in the garage. Arese 05-23-2005, 10:23 AM The alfa romeo sz was based on the alfa romeo 75 3.0 v6 america. They had the same platform, engine and most of the cockpit but its still a cool car. I work at a alfa romeo garage and a costomer has a sz and a rz in maintenance at our company another bad as car but a bit older is the alfa montreal go and look it up!!! auTHOMobilia 07-17-2011, 06:33 AM Hello, Here is the mother, the original Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ by Zagato. The version by Bertone is also worth considering I think... http://authomobilia.blogspot.com/2011/07/alfa-romeo-giulietta-classics-paris.html See you soon, auTHOMobilia AutomotiveHelper.com, Copyright ©2013
