HB Re-build, Opinions Takenwheel1856 05-12-2003, 08:27 PM So here's the deal. June 1st marks the begining of the re-build I've been planning forever. I've made up my mind on most things, still debating others. And Im always open to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and opinions. So, I turn to you all for your experience. Im looking for ideas, opinions, reminders, and "careful when you do this, because when I did..." advice. Maybe you could help with my remaining debates. So, pic of my car is in my sig, here's a list of what I am gonna do, and a picture of a civic with a paint that I am considering. I've got a $6 grand budget, and a hook up on parts. Also, how difficult is it to strip your car's paint. In an effort to save money on the paint job, I may strip the car myself. I don't mind puttin in the time and elbow grease, so long as I dont need any kind of crazy expensive tools to do it. Im not buying a sandblaster. and I've only got about a grand to budget on the paint. professional work to paint it and fix the dings. here goes: swap: B16a2 (SiRII) (hmotorsonline full swap) suspension: Eibach ProKit, Tokico Illuminas, 16x7.5 wheels (simple, silver, 5 spoke) urethane bushings, (maybe some bars if there's $$ left over) (this is stayin, dont wanna here about coilovers or konis) exhaust: DC sports 4-2-1 Ceramic header, custom piping, GReddy EVO exhaust (or Tanabe Tunable) don't want a bee-can. already have an intake. interior: lil bit of custom to brighten up the Honda OE black. some Corbeau adjustables with 5points. (or Sparco Torino's if I can get a hook up) exterior: paint job. no kits, no wings, no lips, no crap. here's what Im thinkin for paint: up for discussion: c:\photos\possible color.jpg well...fire away! anything to look out for? better paint ideas? exhaust ideas? (quiet but nice) lemme know. it's almost go time, just 2 1/2 weeks! (I feel like a lil kid on x-mas eve!) thanks all! -wheel 94tegRS 05-13-2003, 01:23 AM about the engine, good choice, I was thinking that, but opted to go for crvtec, sorta wishing I would have just bought the B16a sir2 swap as well, id already be driving it, but I think my patience will have paid off when im done, and Id get tie bars for sure, I had my 94 teg rs with f/r sways and a upper front strut bar and it handled so good, nw i got my cx with no sways or tie bars and it rolls all over the place, could be one was a teg and ones a civic hatch, never driven a teg like mine without or a hatch like mine with, so never could tell a differnece that way, but the integra felt like a rcok around corners, no roll at all, held the road like the tires were glued down, the hatch scaresme around corners sometimes, but as soon as I get it running, next thing is f/rear sway and a tie bar at all 4 spots you can mount one. how much more are 17's than 16's, ive usually seen it like only 100-150 bucks more for rims and like 80 more for the tires so Id go with 17's, just look better IMO well, thats all i gotta say, Later wheel1856 05-13-2003, 02:58 AM on the wheels/tires.... Im really not too concerned with the look of the tires. I really wanna sleeper...I get enough sh*t as is. I just want somethin that will stick to the road and not rob too much acceleration. From some of the books and articles I've read, 16"s usually come out as a good bet for a better looking wheel, with good handling (with the right tire), and not an acceleration hog. (17"s mind you, also are very good in all the above mentioned areas, but I think would be too big, and heavy, for what I'll have.) 'preciate the insight. keep it comin all...in order to get the parts cheap (I have a wholesale hook up, hence all that work for just $6K) I have to order in advance. -wheel B16 SiRII 05-13-2003, 02:48 PM what are you doing about brakes? If you plan on getting more power later on you might as well throw some big brakes on it. Wouldn't hurt...since you got the hook up and all. Couldn't see the paint you wanted though...what color is it? Good luck with the whole project. I love Hatchies! 94tegRS 05-13-2003, 03:04 PM yeah, I couldnt either, just looked at the pics properties and it is trying to load it off his C drive, which is why it doesnt work. go to somewhere like andale and upload it, then try and post it again. and my friend had 16's on his 6th gen coupe, still looks good. and like b16 said, 4 wheel disc would be nice. or some bigger rotors up front. wheel1856 05-13-2003, 08:36 PM yeah the brakes, I thought I forgot something. Im puttin brembo slotted on the front to fit the wheel with 4 piston calipers and metallic pads. the rear Im gonna leave at drums for now. The drums need replacin on the back too, so .... I couldn't see spending the money on a rear disc conversion. mucho expensive, talkin near a grand or more for a conversion kit and parts. hopefully better equipment up front will be enough. if not, Im gonna have to watch my arse until I can afford a conversion in the rear. now where should I go to upload the link? I don't know, I used to go to some site that I had book marked, and cant use it anymore. Im not to hip to the internet free tools n such. markzippy 05-14-2003, 05:35 PM I have the Eibach Sportline kit for springs and from what I have seen, not many people are fond of the kit. I haven't testeed any others, but I do have 16"s with 40 series tires and they look pretty good in the well area. I also have all the bushings and swaybars to go around and it has made a serious difference. I might suggest the lower strut bars to aid in the added pressure of all you suspension mods and strut tower bars worked better then I ever imagined, especially on older, looser cars. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
