350 progressChopinPorkChop 05-11-2003, 05:29 PM Ok i got sick of looking at my prelude i did so i started new project... grid technique 350 z the roofline of this car is very weird, i had a hard time trying to get it and it still looks funne pls gimme comments and ways to improve.. btw we need shading tut :D GTmike400 05-11-2003, 06:35 PM I think a challenge that you face with the grid technique is the size of the grid. Try making the grid boxes maybe half the size. When comparing the reference grid to the your drawing try to scale how far up or down a line goes, if its is up 1/4 in the reference picture draw the line up to 1/4 of the box on the grid. I'll see about a shading tut. I gotta start another drawing. ChopinPorkChop 05-11-2003, 07:04 PM yay i love how this thing looks!!! it turned out to be pretty cartoon.. but it doesnt haverims and im having problems drawing them... can you pls help me with rims? ChopinPorkChop 05-11-2003, 08:54 PM well i guess im sorta happy about how this turned out.. i learned a few things, i guess thats the good part. what ya think SuPeRcAr_MaN 05-12-2003, 04:12 PM I think it is looking good. The headlight detail will add a lot to the drawing... It looks real good. asaenz 05-12-2003, 04:17 PM Originally posted by ChopinPorkChop well i guess im sorta happy about how this turned out.. i learned a few things, i guess thats the good part. what ya think ChopinPorkChop, I am glad you didn't give up. The car is looking great. Learning. That is a good thing. Lord, knows I am just learning too. It seems I bring someting away from each art work. The important thing is that we don't give up. al ChopinPorkChop 05-12-2003, 04:18 PM thnx and i think your right, the color is a bit off tho, its a mid orange.. thnx to aseanz(sp) also Phaturbo 05-18-2003, 11:59 PM I just signed up but i had to say something about this one. This one looks alot better then your impreza(which wasnt bad the bumper just needed massaging). The grid worked out nicely for you this time, the form is deffinately there. However there are a few things that could help this be a better rendering. 1. Push the blacks and i mean PUSH em (you might not want to at first but it helps set the bar for other value decisions). 2. The paint looks completely flat it could use some reflections to help define the form and the bodylines and make it look more 3d. 3. reflections on the glass or shine or somethin. The rims and tires look ok freehanding elipses is never easy, throw some big brakes back there tho set it off. You could also put highlights on the tires and bring out the tread. ok enough rambling thats my two cents take it or leave it.
