Well as you all know I am getting a new car to be used as a drivers car.
I named some options a while back and have driven them all, but can;t decide which one, so I thought I would hold a poll the winning car, I buy..........

Seems like an unusual way to select a car to pay for...... I'd accept advice but reserve final choice for myself.

Hard choice.

I am a skyline fan. Have driven a R34 GT-T and it is a damn nice car with plenty of power. The tip tronic ones are more of a "drivers car" option..
Still the owner sold it and replaced it with a R33 GTR VSpec. Now there is a CAR!

Lotus.. could be expensive to maintain.. Sexy car though and not many around.. but there are not many of any on that list.

Holden.. I am a Holden enemy.. but they are a nice car for towing a boat or something, or if you are one of those guys with a mullet.. it will suit you :D

EVO VII.. umm just another rally car.. and really not a drivers car.. Although cool car.

A new elise probobly costs less to maintian than an imported Skyline.
They use the trusty rover K series engine and gearbox, so service intervals and expenses are about the same as if you bought a Rover 1.6 Hatch, or a Toyota corrola.
The only expensive thing to replace is the tyres, but then all the cars on that list will be expensive to get tyres for.
The only downside to an Elise is its lack of practicality compared to the other cars, but it's by far the best in terms of driveing experiance.

Undoubtedly the Elise, Ive never seen one moving in real life but I love them, therye my favourite cars, you can keep your F50 or whatever Id be very happy to have on of those.

Its the least practical on that list but if you only want a drivers car go for it

Well I have done some shopping aaround and test driving and am near buying an Elise but a 8 month waiting list?????? I don't think so, plus I will have to go to Auckland for servicing......
GTV lovely drivers car but quality lacking.......
EVO VIII and STi very nice cars but supplies limited
SS still a possibility, but a little common, and expensive to run....

The Saab, Audi and Skyline are my hot favourites right now........

BTW. Ben I live in Napier, I used to live in ChCh until last month

Does it have to be new? there was one in last weeks autotrader. A 2000 model in silver with only 10,000ks on it for $59,995.

Big saving over the new price for a near new car.

Like I said go for this if you do have even a slight chance.

Yes I couldnt get in either yesterday

There is always someone looking to sell thier Elise somewhere, and servicing dosn't have to be in Auckland.

If you really want one, the guy who owns the Import and service rights is a member of Club Lotus, so I know him pretty well. I can ask about servicing out side of Auckland if you really want. and about any 2nd hand cars.

I would go for the elise over the Skyline as it is just the GT-T.. and the Lotus is far better than it.

Audi, Nice car.. but you really want to good one. but It cost ALOT!

Holy shit!!!! I almost forgot the S15 existed, in NZ, you can pick up a factory fresh 184Kw one for only US$22,500, that is a very good idea

My list has got even narrower, I have narrowed it down and now it is just the Nissan Skyline GT-T and Lotus Elise.......

I have seen a Skyline advertised for NZ$60,000 at Nissan in Takapuna and I am on the hunt for a decent Elise..........

For sheer value for money and looks, I would go for the S15 Silvia Turbo. If you didn't mind to pay a little more however, I think you would have a great time with an Elise.:)

If your really serious about an Elise, send me an email, moppie_nz@yahoo.com

I can find out exactly how many Elise's there are in the country, what ones are currently for sale, and of those, what ones a currently worth buying.
And I can do it all on Monday night. :D

Yea, you did the right thing. It was close with the Skyline and the S15, but you were smart picking the Lotus. :flash:

Well I am bucking my skyline trend and saying the lotus. That is one fine auto and tons of fun to drive. Quick and awesome handling.
