Radiator cooling fan

Is there more than one input to the pcm that tells the cooling fan to come on? I've replaced the thermal sensor. The relay is good, as it runs both fans with the ac turned on. Also, I don't care for the way this 195* thermostat works. I'ld like to replace it with a 180*. Will that mess up something? As always I do appreciate your input. Thanks, Ken
P.S. it's a '96

Without the A/C on, coolant temp would need to be 210-215 for the first fan to turn on. No problem running a cooler thermostat, in fact I run a 160 deg stat & engine temps @ highway speed run 162-165 deg.

A 180F Thermostat will be fine in the 96... I think the fan turn on for low speed is 212 and high speed is 220 iirc...

I actually went to the 180 F Thermostat on my van( swapped 3800 III and a 97 PCM ) I went in and changed the Fan turn on to 195F and Turn Off at 185F... Didn't want it too cold or too warm... All of this can also give some mild benefits to the transmission if you do not have an AUX cooler...
