'96 Century question

I've got a '96 Century with an intermittent problem in the front end. It seems that whenever I hit the brakes and make a left turn I get a "POP" from the right front of the car. It will also do this occasionally if I hit a bump just right. It has been going on for some time now, however the car doesn't get driven very often. I bought it a year ago with 60k and now has 67k. This car has the 3.1 v-6 and an auto trans. You can turn the wheels at a stop and it will not make any noise.
I have had the front end aligned yesterday and told the mechanic abouth the problem. The alignment went well with no other issues found. No nuts or bolts were found loose and the CV boots looked good. The car drives and shifts good. There is no clicking while going around corners or clunking when accelerating after coasting awhile. The mechanic thought it might be a CV joint on the passenger side going bad. What do ya' ll think?

could be a CV joint, but that problem occured in my grandma's park avenue a couple months ago, when turning and the like. Have the brakes looked at more than likely, a sensor is loose, or there is something getting caught between the rotor and brake pad.
