Power seat parts

Long story short. I lent my brother my car, (2000 Stratus ES) and the recliner mechanism on the driver's side power seat is broken.

I have the seat out, and can see where it is broken. there are 2 threaded rods that have a worm gear which allows them to recline the seat up & down.

The plastic gear attachment is broken. I can't see any type of part number or serial number on it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You might talk to the parts department at your local dealer, see if they can order something for you. Take the plastic piece off so you can show it to the parts people. In the past on different makes and models, I have swapped out the driver seat for the passenger seat. Yeah the seat was still broke, but, it wasn't on the driver side any longer. That may not be applicable for your vehicle? Maybe you can use the plastic piece from the passenger side? You probably want to fix it the right way, that means finding a part, somewhere. Maybe the seat base comes off the seat and you can replace the base?

I actually pulled a decent leather seat from the junk yard this morning. Not powered though. (It was a passenger side seat)

I searched online, but I think it is such an obscure part to look for, I did not get any hits. I was just wondering, instead of going back to pull the driver's side for just the frame, I might throw the question out in this forum.

It crossed my mind to check the dealer, and perhaps I might. I can only imagine what they want for a part like that.

Thanks for the response.

You can call the dealer and ask for the parts department, see what they have to say. The salvage yard is a thought, also. Goodluck
